Age-inclusive emergency response
on Mozambique's climate frontline

Sofala Province is one of the most climate-exposed regions in Southern Africa. Since Cyclone Idai devastated Beira in March 2019, ASADEC has been on the ground responding to recurring cyclones, floods, and inundations that displace communities and threaten lives.

Our humanitarian work is anchored in one principle: elderly people and vulnerable groups must never be forgotten in emergency response. While traditional humanitarian standards often overlook older adults, we make them central to every intervention — from early warning to reconstruction.

As members of INGD's Social Protection Cluster since 2019, we coordinate with government and other humanitarian actors to ensure aligned, non-duplicated response. We partner with international organizations like ASB (Germany) and Start Network to deliver rapid, dignified emergency support.
