ASADEC — Action for Community Development is a national Mozambican non-profit with its own headquarters in the 22nd Neighborhood of Beira, Sofala Province. We work in social protection, community inclusion, and sustainable development — grounded in the belief that the most vulnerable have the right to dignity and opportunity.
We work alongside national and international partners, government authorities, and community leaders — building interventions that are participatory, inclusive, and sustainable across the most vulnerable communities of Sofala and throughout Mozambique.

Henriques Verónica Henriques founds ASADEC as President of the Board of Directors, responding to the social challenges facing vulnerable communities in Sofala.
ASADEC leads the campaign that contributed to the creation of Law 3/2014 — the Protection of the Rights of Elderly People in Mozambique. A landmark in social legislation.
Julieta Felicidade Gustavo Lucas takes on the presidency of the Board of Directors. The organization acquires its own headquarters in the 22nd Neighborhood and joins the INGD Social Protection Cluster for emergency response.
Henriques Verónica takes on the role of Executive Director, and Velinda Júlio Eduardo becomes Coordinator of Administration, Finance and Human Resources — consolidating the operational structure.

Founded ASADEC in 1999 as President of the Board of Directors. Between 2001 and 2023, served as General Coordinator. Currently serves as Executive Director.
Led the campaign that contributed to the creation of Law 3/2014 on the Protection of the Rights of Elderly People. Since 2019, has been part of the technical team of the INGD Social Protection Cluster for emergency response.

Led the institutional strengthening of ASADEC, including the acquisition of the headquarters where the organization currently operates. Championed community proposals for the creation of Law 3/2014 before the provincial government of Sofala.
Joined ASADEC in 2014 as an administrative intern, developing her skills through 2019.
In 2019 she took on the role of Administrative and Financial Officer, and in 2023 became Coordinator of Administration, Finance and Human Resources.
